Company History

turtle logo from 1999 Founded in 1999, Turtlereality is a web design partnership, comprising Jon Pollard and Lena Eijvergard, based near Warminster, Wiltshire.

Our goal is to make and maintain quality web sites for small businesses and provide the kind of quality that you would normally associate with a large agency - but at an affordable price.

Our clients are local, national and international and include start-ups, sole traders, SMEs and household brands. Websites evolve over time and we always look to form long-term relationships - some of our clients have been with us since our formation.

We want your website to work for you - not just to look pretty or cram in whizz-bang technology – but as an effective business and marketing tool.

Our clients

Our client list is hugely diverse with businesses located in places such as Bath, Bristol, London, France and the USA.

They are also in a wide range of sectors including; financial services, design, law, pharmaceuticals, retail, wholesale, manufacturing, catering, publishing, local government, technology, charity, the arts...

People

Jon Pollard

Jon Pollard

Jon has been working in the internet industry since 1996. Starting at a small web shop in Clerkenwell, he quickly ended up working for one of the world's leading digital agencies, Agency.com.

During his 3 years at Agency he worked with clients as diverse as British Airways, Boots the Chemist, Grand Theft Auto and the RSPCA with roles including designer, producer and programmer.

Eventually the corporate environment lost its appeal and in 1999 he formed Turtlereality bringing together his all-round skills to help smaller companies.

Lena Eijvergard

Lena Eijvergard

Lena spent her early working life in hospitality, travel and logistics before changing gears for a career in new media.

Her time is divided between web development, SEO, RealityMail and project management and she will often be the first person you speak to about a project.

Coming into the industry relatively recently she brings a fresh eye to the business and hasn't had to unlearn the bad habits of 10 years ago!

Jeff

Jeff - The Office Cat

Jeff is getting on a bit and mainly sleeps when he's in the office, but he is a great stress buster - even if his programming leaves a lot to be desired!

1. Define Project Scope
Before we draw up a detailed quote, we will discuss with you the scope of the project and analyse the functionality required.
2. Proposal & Specification
Based on our discussions we will draw up a proposal and specification for the project.
3. Agree Specification
The proposal and specification form the basis of our agreement. At this stage we both sign Terms & Conditions and a deposit is requested to signal acceptance to proceed.
4. Pre-Production
This stage is for large, complex projects that require an in-depth discovery process. This will be quoted for if deemed an integral part of the project.
5. Visual Design Production
We begin by creating mock-ups of how the site will look. They are presented to you as a static image and form the basis for a collaborative process of discussion and refining until we have a look and feel that lives up to, if not exceeds, your expectations.
6. Design Sign-off
The designs have final approval and are signed off before moving on to:
7. Site Build & Content Population
Now is the time that we programme the site and build any databases and content management systems. Running concurrently with the site development we ask you to consider the site text if it hasn't already been submitted. We can then incorporate all the content to the site ready for the next stage.
8. Functional Testing on Staging Server
The site will be uploaded to a staging server for you to approve before going live. This is the time for thorough testing to ensure everything is working as it should.
9. Live Launch
When the site is finished and tested we will transfer the files over to the live server and complete a final round of tests. You are now live on the internet!
10. Acceptance Tests & Sign-off
Once the site is live and acceptance tests are complete, the project is signed off and the final invoice sent.
